I’ve been wanting to try a reduction print for a long time. The thought has been scaring me off starting because you destroy the lino block as you make the prints, so there’s no room for f*ck-ups.
So I went down the route of over-engineering the process, there were lists and checklists, and a lot of dragging of heels. But I finally did it. My First Reduction Lino Print. I did learn a lot, you need A LOT of patience for starters. There’s things I’d do differently next time, and there’s things I’ll be leaving as is but it’s healthy to recognise that I set the simplicity bar nice and low for this first one so I’d not get put off trying it again. Go me.
It’s a limited edition, I got 13 good prints out of 13 sheets (yay no f*ck-ups!). They are up in my Etsy shop as of this weekend, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting around to over-planning another one fairly soon.
