I went out on a bit of a limb. My California poppy t-shirts all sold out and I was getting a lot of DMs and requests about getting more printed, so I did a load of research in to whether it was time for me to drop everything and learn how to screen print (which I still want to do!) or if it would be more cost effective to get them printed by someone else and give myself more time to get around to screen printing properly and still be able to carry on with my lino and many other projects.
I did a fair amount of research and had some discussions with customers as well – super helpful – and it turns out, that printing on sleeves is either a. not and option or b. pretty expensive (I’m guessing it’s just as much of a faff to screen print on to sleeves as it is to block print onto sleeves). I ended up going with a screen printing studio called 3rd Rail who are based not far from me in London who clearly had a lot of experience with weird and wonderful printing requests – they didn’t even bat an eyelid when I asked them to colour match from one of my block printed samples. Win!
The quality of the finished product is perfect, the colour is a perfect match to my Ultramarine sample and they just look great. This was a pretty small run, so get them while you can.
